Summary/Abstract: Polish healthcare has been long struggling with many problems, mainly of financial nature. It is very likely that because of tight budgets the use of the public-private partnership (PPP) formula will become a necessity in the future. Practical experiences have led to the development of several PPP models that are successfully employed in Europe. The PPP market that has emerged in the Polish healthcare sector still seems to be insufficiently developed. This article aims to present PPP models for healthcare and to evaluate how the solution has been used in Poland to date. The main research tool is a descriptive method utilising Polish and foreign literature on public-private partnerships in the healthcare sector, data published by the Ministry of Development (the PPP Platform) and the European PPP Expertise Centre (EPEC). Only four PPP projects are being carried out in Polish healthcare today. This shows that even when an advantageous legal framework is in place much needs still to be done regarding organisational and financial solutions to enable the execution of large, comprehensive projects addressing the needs of the healthcare sector.
