Summary/Abstract: The role of the United States, for the defeat of Germany during World War I, proved fateful impact also on the territorial aspirations of Bulgaria. Although the United States never declared war on Bulgaria nor even cut off diplomatic relations with it, pro-British sentiment of the American east coast eventually belittled any understanding of the legitimate Bulgarian territorial claims.
