Summary/Abstract: Although Bulgaria ended World War I as one of the defeated Central Powers, Bulgarians were disappointed by the terms of the Treaty of Neuilly, which was imposed upon their country on 27 November 1919. Bulgarians had vainly hoped for a more moderate treaty because of their strong ethnic claims to territories which they had occupied during the war.
