Summary/Abstract: The Peer Ports represent a comparably novel communication mechanism for increasing the availability of data streams in peer-to-peer networks - a mechanism that has no revealing implementation as of this writing. Peer Ports allow redundant persistent communication between the peers, even if the receiving peer is repeatedly disconnected from the network, and the data will be eventually delivered, a typical behavior of delay tolerant networks. By including the Peer Port into the topology, we introduce the following advantages to the communication: delay tolerant support, low cost communication after interruption, transparent and network independent recovery.
