Summary/Abstract: The purpose of the text is to emphasize the usefulness of cultural studies perspective for today's multi-dimensional analysis of the information society. The main thesis here is the assumption of the important role of popular culture, which is the major determinant of the cultural dimension of the title of society. Tourism is understood here as a very important component of popular culture. The inclusion of this thesis and the adoption of - generally outlined - cultural studies approach is crucial for a better understanding of contemporary social processes and trends, as well as working out effective research methods. The text is thus a kind of characteristics of the information society through the prism of its tourism aspect. The article is an attempt to adapt the appropriate approach, useful both to the debate on the information society, popular culture, as well as the broadly understood tourism. It is also a reflection on the role of new technologies in tourism and in the formation of information society and related social change. The author assumes that using the concept of popular culture to describe and explain a number of phenomena (not only of a cultural nature) occurring on a global scale.
