Summary/Abstract: An international poetry festival is offering the author an opportunity to travel to contemporary China. The present text sums up a series of observations regarding several – social, economic, cultural, urban – aspects of the social life in the China of the 21st century. China is a unique place in the world, the author concludes, where the Pax Americana seems remote, a country towards which the United States has an impressive financial debt, and where the same United States of America look like the “Little Brother”.
