Summary/Abstract: The subject matter comprises problems concerning employees’ liability for maintenance of order described in chapter VI of title IV of the Labour code. The article is focused on the changes to which for many years, from the enactment of the Labour code, the aforementioned institution of labour law was subjected. The author discusses the legal character of the regulations concerning that type of liability and premises enabling the employer to charge towards the employee a penalty of admonition, a penalty of serious reprimand and a pecuniary penalty, and focuses primarily on the issues of illegality of employee’s behaviour. The article also includes the mode of imposing penalties, for example, for employee’s failure to observe the established organization and order in the working process, the work safety and hygiene regulations, fire protection regulations, drinking alcohol during working hours and instruments serving to revoke them.
