Summary/Abstract: The empirical study focuses on examining opinions of graduates of primary school, secondary technical schools and secondary vocational schools as well as their parents on education, its effect on employment chances, life satisfaction and life success. In addition, subjectively conceived importance of congruence between the chosen educational and professional careers with the interest of pupils was explored. Questionnaires were administered to primary school graduates (n = 779), secondary technical school and secondary vocational school graduates (n = 442) and to their parents. Data were gathered in 2011 in 40 primary and 20 secondary schools. The analyses showed that respondents attribute relatively high importance to the investigated domains. These findings are found satisfactory because the variables that were investigated affect the decision on educational and professional careers of pupils.
