Summary/Abstract: Starting from the Gallicisms belonging to the textile semantic field which are found in the Romanian language, our paper has three objectives: to identify, to present their etymology and produce a lexical and semantic analysis of the lexemes pertaining to this domain. The conclusion is that Gallicisms have preserved all the distinctive features of their Frenchetymons, especially since they came into Romanian due to the denominational need to designate new referents, and that there are very few semantic changes in Romanian as compared to French (partial conservation of the meaning of French etymon and the metonymic gliding for designating the garment by the fabric which it is made of).
