Summary/Abstract: In light of cognitive concepts, a significant cause of adaptation problems are maladaptive cognitive distortions, consisting in assigning meaning to one’s experience in an inaccurate or distorted way. The identification of cognitive distortions in social misfits enables social rehabilitation educators to identify their problems in the process of adaptation to the environmental conditions and to understand the nature of their social functioning. At the same time, it allows to adjust methods of social rehabilitation interaction to the committed distortions.
