Summary/Abstract: Ian McEwan’s Amsterdam is woven around friendship and errors that people can make in life and in art. The novel itself, rightfully perceived as different from the others the author has written, can be considered a deviation from norms. The paper will tackle the types of error that can be identified in the novel as well as the discrepancy between authorial intention and art consumers’ perception.
