Summary/Abstract: The article reviews and analyses the history of Abraham and its existential implications. The author claims that the story reveals three particularly important aspects: the salvation as liberation from fear, deep freedom resulting from that experience and obedience to God as exceeding what is impossible to understand. All these interrelated aspects of Christian life are truly essential. Since modern culture seems to be predominantly and increasingly anti Christian and it shows and promotes anti Christian values and patterns of behaviour, it is particularly important for the faith to be a brave one.
