Officials Association of the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius – Contribution to the Genesis of Trade Unions in the Interwar Period

Summary/Abstract: Working in the years 1925–1939, the Officials Association of the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius, was a trade union. Subject to the provisions of the Regulation Commissioner General of the Eastern Lands on associations and unions of 25 September 1919 and then the Decree of the President of the Republic on 27 October 1932 Law on Associations. The area of its activity covers the entire Earth Vilnius. The primary statutory objective was to protect the professional interests of officials employed at the Stefan Batory University in Vilnius. Besides, the Association gave assistance to its members and engaged in numerous external socio-cultural initiatives, often supporting them financially.
