Summary/Abstract: This article proposes a critical and symbolic analysis of the literary configuration of the exoticism in the novel Neige, by Maxence Fermine. Such interest in the exoticism is typical of some authors of the contemporary French fiction, with their regard for exotic cultures and their literary genders. This study focuses particularly on the ways in which Japan and its culture frame the fiction’s space. The new expressive forms that define the current narrative discourse of exoticism are examined, focusing on the confluence and interpretation of the different cultural and narrative languages that shape the literary creation. The perception and symbolic decoding of the other culture are also analysed, as well as its interpretation and its transposition to the narrative process. A special attention is paid to the techniques used in the literary language, which allow it to reach the highest expressive level.Among others topics, this article addresses aspects such as the narrative configuration of exotic spaces, the presence of artistic languages as narrative languages and the presence of the poetic narrative.
