The benefits of the use of EU funds in municipalities of Podkarpacie

Summary/Abstract: The municipality as the basic unit of local government in terms of its governance has a numberof instruments to freely model the socio – economic situation. Own revenues of local governments atall levels do not provide the desired pace of implementation of the investment, and therefore a veryimportant role is played by the possibility of obtaining funds from other sources.The aim of the study is to evaluate the benefits arising from the use of EU funds in selected municipalities of Podkarpacie. Implementing the agreed goal with the use of own research wasperformed by means of a questionnaire in selected municipalities of Podkarpacie. Municipalitiesanalyzed are diverse in terms of conditions and yet differ in size of obtained support. The mainproblem was due to the need to establish relationships arising between the organization of work atthe town hall, and the benefits realized thanks to EU funds. The assessment shows that the obtained funds have contributed to the revenue growth in the community, business development and to a verylarge extent, to improve cultural infrastructure.
