Summary/Abstract: The concept of populationism is one of the crucial issues of historical science. Folk education was often mentioned in political literature of the 18th century as a factor which contributed to an increase in population and improvement of health conditions. The group of political writers who brought this issue up included among others: Stanisław Leszczyński, Wawrzyniec Mitzler de Kolof, Stefan Garczyński, August Fryderyk Moszyński, Wincenty Skrzetuski, Antoni Popławski, Józef Wybicki, Jan Ferdynand Nax, Józef Pawlikowski, Jacek Jezierski. Their postulates were taken into consideration and included in decrees issued by State institutions
