Summary/Abstract: Having a significant place in our education history Ayşe Sıdıka Hanım died young but she had prepared imported works at a short span of time. The developments in education influenced both mans and women after the proclamation of the Imperial Edict. The statesmen of this era made a major contribution woman education by establishing the new educational institutions. As a matter of course new textbooks was written by various educators and thinkers. Ayşe Sıdıka Hanım who was born in 1872 directly was impressed by this period. Lessons of Education and Training Methods (Usûl-ı Talîm ve Terbiye Dersleri) which was published in 1897 was written by Ayşe Sıdıka Hanım. This book is one of the first pedagogy works. Since it is written by a women Ayşe Sıdıka Hanım’s book has a very important position. When the numbers of woman educator, woman artist, woman thinker and woman politician were inadequate in Ottoman State Ayşe Sıdıka Hanım highly attracted attention with hers attempts on the conditions of period. Physical education, idea education, moral education, mental abilities, will, responsibility, gratitude, instinct, love and respect were evaluated in this work by writer. Within this framework this article focuses to understand opinions of Ayşe Sıdıka Hanım and aims to enlighten ıssues of the textbook. The textbook which mentions the developments of modern education opinion concretizes what should watch out teachers. Undoubtedly that this study will reveal effectively the origins of our pedagogy tradition.
