Summary/Abstract: The article concentrates on two major ingredients of the charism of the Congregation of the Oblates of Mary Immaculate i.e.: Marianity and fraternal love. It aims at demonstrating that the juxtaposition of these two elements contributes to their deeper understanding and living them out better in everyday life. The founder of the Congregation, St. Eugene de Mazenod insisted on practicing fraternal love among the Oblates. What is more, he demanded something particular in the way of living out that love, which distinguishes them from other monks. It seems that this particular nature of the Oblate brotherhood is rooted in Marianity, hence Mary Immaculate is the Patroness of the Congregation. Indeed, this concept runs through the Oblate documents and studies, but in rather general terms (chapter 1). That is why the author, basing on the Oblate sources and the post-conciliar teaching of the Church, presents the specific way in which Mary teaches the Oblates fraternal love (chapter 2). The third chapter portrays her as a witness to apostolic love, who teaches how the way of fraternal love ought to evolve into apostolic love. Fraternal love is not only necessary in order to fulfill mission, but it is mission in itself.
