Summary/Abstract: Zbigniew Nienacki’s “Mr Car” series which includes twelve volumes appeared in 1964-1985. These books, destined for youth, connect two genres - crime and educational story. As far as the first one is concerned, Nienacki used feature scheme telling us about the adventures of a detective who searches for stolen culture properties. Educational values involve issues connected with the history and geography of Poland. In order to make an ideological message attractive, the author connects it with the descriptions of adventures. An educational type of stories influences characters’ construction. The main character is an adult having authority among young characters. The existence of young readers also influences a crime story’s regularity, which follows moral significance of the novel – finally evil is punished and treasures gained thanks to the education are saved. From the connection of sensational and crime feature, a specific type of a detective story is revealed - educational crime story.
