Summary/Abstract: In this study, the image of women in lyrics of 30 Turkish folk songs (detected based on the Verbal Anthology of Turkish Folk Music composed of 3 volumes prepared by TRT) is going to be examined through the feminist perspective. According to their social role determined by the community since they were born, how the image of women on the lyrics of Turkish folk songs was shaped? How men criticized women on those lyrics? The image of women on the folk songs has sometimes had straight expressions and sometimes metaphoric expressions due to the concern about aesthetic and necessities of literary works. Woman, constituting the main theme of folk songs having masculine expressions as the “love”, is being shaped in various forms on the subliminal of the public and the man.
