Summary/Abstract: As a distinguished author of modern Turkish Literature Elif Şafak, pays attentions to a period of her special life in Siyah Süt (Black Milk) novel. Elif Şafak as an intellectual woman deals with the motherhood and confinement situation in the novel which is worst to emphasize. Brought a number of problems due to confinement is very important period in the confine of woman and her family. Confinement has led to various beliefs in the life of Anatolian people. So this study deals with the belief of alkarısı/albasması in the Siyah Süt novel.
