Summary/Abstract: Today's approach to history teaching in schools and universities should follow trends of scholarly study of history. The result is that in European education systems, there are some developments to extend the content of history teaching, ie. that the programs include social, economic, cultural and even intellectual history as well as the political and diplomatic, which has so far dominated. In adopting knowledge students must adopt a critical attitude to historical facts and evidence, and develop historical thinking and historical consciousness. In doing so, they significantly help to read written documents, ie. archives, for historians, students and pupils the main source of knowledge. The historical truth is the foundation of all other considerations, it is particularly important for the history of the 20th century.
