Summary/Abstract: The Internet offers a wide range of varied contents to its users. There are different kinds of activitiesin which people from all over the world can participate, as no geographical impedimentsare present. Children and young people use the Internet enthusiastically to take part in social lifewhich nowadays is held mostly in cyberspace. They all dream about being popular and wellknownusers. Therefore, they support their friends’ unusual behaviors. Young people create theirown trends which, if they stick to them, guarantees that they are accepted community members.These behaviors are not always moral. Cyberspace is a place where parental control disappears.Social media become young people’s private space. Moreover, they take part in a new and dangerousphenomenon, called sexting. This extremely risky misbehavior may have an influence on theirlives. Furthermore, sexting can increase the rate of paedophilic activities on the Internet. The mainaim of the article is to describe sexting and its influence on children and young people.
