Cemeteries as landscape objects of visiting

Summary/Abstract: The article analyzes the concept of cemetery as a sacred place, features of cemetery landscape and architecture, and types of monuments. Visiting of cemeteries is analyzed in the article using sociological approach. The cemeteryis considered as a socio-cultural space, the visiting of which depends on a variety of personal and collective, ideological and spiritual factors. The focus is placed on the motives for visiting of cemeteries and cemetery tourism. The article presents author’s classification of monuments, motivation for visiting of cemeteries.
