Summary/Abstract: The article represents an interlacing of two specified genres. Its authors tried to present the main milestones of biographies of two characters and to reflect impartially some aspects of their family problems. Our senior hero is the General Staff Colonel Lev Stepanovich Baranovsky who at first married his sister-in-law (that was forbidden by the Russian church and civil laws). Then for the sake of creation of new family life and for successful continuation of office career, he was ready to slander the first wife and to declare children illegitimate. Vladimir Lvovich Baranovsky, as well as Baranovsky Sr., chose career of the Guards officer and graduated from Academy of the General Staff, which ensured him further career as the representative of army intellectual elite. However V. L. Baranovsky was lucky man because he was also the brother-in-law of Alexander Fedorovich Kerensky. In such conditions, his meteoric career was guaranteed. However, he didn’t become puzzled after falling of “kerenshchina”, and made quite successful career in Red Army, what confirms the theory of social motivation, developed by one of the authors. Therefore, the representatives of intellectual elite of the Russian army were ready to trample officer honor and family wellbeing and to serve everyone who guaranteed them comfortable existence.
