Summary/Abstract: The present study evokes, in a kind of palimpsest, the efforts and demarches of the students of the Andreian Theological and Pedagogical Institute from Sibiu to publish a journal. Their journalistic activity was also corroborated with the founding of a library and a Reading Society, which would bear the name of the worthy Metropolitan and Saint Andrei Șaguna. All three desires have been fulfilled, and have taken note of History, in particular, with their cultural presence. Although only in the manuscript and in an internal circuit, the journal “Speranția” was the first publicistic achievement of the Romanian students from all over Transylvania. The period of issue was short, only three years, but it was a pattern for future generations. Moreover, it can be noticed that the journalistic preoccupations of the academic predecessors were as interesting, intellectual and current as those of today.
