Summary/Abstract: Coming from two different traditions these contemporaries differ deeply one from another. Borrowing a lot from philosophies of Schopenhauer and Nietzsche the pessimist Cioran isn't a very original thinker. Although a traditional thinker with ideas based on the admonitions and the advice of the God of Israel and his prophets, Levinas, an adversary of great parts of the Western philosophical tradition, is remarcable original. The egoistic Cioran versus a Jewish philosopher who on biblical grounds places the other one in the center of his considerations, our neighbor who is our teacher of a way of life that will always takes us by surprise.
