SOME REMARKS ON ŞTEFAN BRÂNCOVEANU

Summary/Abstract: Based on published archival documents, the study presents a brief biography of Ştefan Brâncoveanu (1685-1714), the fifth of 11 children of Romanian voivode Constantin Brâncoveanu. He had a careful education which were initially charged preceptors of the family, including Maiota Gheorghe, Ion Molybdos Comnène, Ion Cariofil, Sevastos Kiminites, etc. One could soon see the fruit of this education grafted on a remarkable innate intelligence. In 1701, when he was 16, Ştefan published printed in Bucharest, in Greek, more books.
