Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to adopting interdisciplinary approach and project-based methods to teaching vocational subjects as the emphasis is on mastering 21st century skills, recognising questions, identifying evidence, critically evaluating conclusions and communicating to others. Today’s teachers need to move away from using textbooks as the major source of guidance. The article contents addresses the questions whether teachers are able to teach in an interdisciplinary manner and wheyher teachers can be given, and then make use of, guidance to teach in this way. Undoubtedly, teachers are aware of the need for meaningful learning through student involvement provided by project-based and interdisciplinary teaching. The article presents some teaching materials developed withing the course ‘Food on Canvas, which promotes teaching Culinary Arts in the Visual Arts Historical and Cultural Context involving students into various activities related to arts, food consumption and the language acquisition. The course addresses several fields of education and training - Culinary Arts, Art History, English, Health education along with some elements of Museum education. It will lead to enhancing the quality and relevance of the learning offer; fostering the provision and the assessment of transversal skills particularly entrepreneurship, languages and digital skills; promoting take-up of innovative practices in education and training by supporting personalized learning approaches, collaborative learning and critical thinking, strategic use of Information and Communication Technologies.
