Summary/Abstract: This article is part of a student essay dedicated to the history of Sliven, which has been awarded second prize in the IX National History Competition „Borders in History - History without Borders“ organized by Values Foundation (2015-2016). The selected part of the paper examines the ethnic borders in the wake of Bulgaria’s National Revival.
