Summary/Abstract: Noting that, presently, in Romania (unlike other European countries, such as: Austria, Spain, France and Italy), there is no other special legal regulation relating to the employment of the domestic workers (a special regulation that existed, however, between 1892 and 1951) and also taking into account the fact that, in 2011, it was adopted the Convention of the International Labour Organisation No 189/2011 (not yet ratified by Romania) concerning the decent work of domestic workers, the author believes that the adoption in our country of a special legal regulation referring to the work of the domestic workers represents an imperative of great contemporary significance. Further on, starting from this premise, the author, on the one hand, outlines the basic rules of a future special normative act in this regard, and, on the other hand, taking into account the content of such a normative act, he draws attention that it is also required, therefore, the amendment of some legal regulations presently existing in the Romanian labour legislation.
