Summary/Abstract: Having in mind the meetings of the European leaders of 28th June (European Council - EU 28) and 29th June 2016 (the informal meeting - EU 27), Donald Tusk reported to the European Parliament a “Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign and Security Policy”, designed to adapt UE policies to the new existing circumstances in the international environment: “The European Council welcomes the presentation of the Global Strategy for the European Union’s Foreign and Security Policy by the High Representative and invites the High Representative, the Commission and the Council to take the work forward”. Thus, after thirteen years a new security strategy is issued, one developed under the coordination of the High Representative Federica Mogherini. Of course several questions arise: does this new strategy correspond to the current context? Or perhaps, in light of recent events it requires new changes? What is the role of Romania in implementing this strategy? We will try to answer these questions here, aware that, undoubtedly, the future holds surprises.
