Conferential Identity, that is the History of Głogów Conferences

Summary/Abstract: The article characterizes an unelaborated type of identity which is acquired andconsciously chosen – conferential identity. In this context the history of Głogów conferences has been presented and the factors shaping conferential identity indicated; being more precise, a specific Głogów conference identity. Characteristic constant elements of Głogów conferences have been discussed. Thus, the initiators and organizers, location and patronage which the conference always receives have been presented. The most important factor shaping conferential identity is of course the very essence of a scholarly conference. The interdisciplinary characterof Głogów conference has been stressed, its fixed dates and duration. An excursion is mentioned as an integral part of the conference. Other non-scholarly, but very important characteristic features shaping the identity of Głogów conferences are: observation of the reconstruction of the collegiate church in Głogów, formal supper during which the title of the Knight or Lady of Głogów Snuffbox is given, joint evening and nightsinging near aquariums as well the Tuesday visit to the fire station in Grochowice.
