Summary/Abstract: A beneath presented comparison of two texts that in different style present a relationship of contemporary ethnologists (ethnomusicologists) toward the pioneers of this scientific field of study in Serbia, Jovan Cvijic and Miodrag Vasiljevic, provides an opportunity for the research of mutual relations of ethnic research and its perspectives within the context of inevitable dimension of social engagement of the science in folk studies. The research is focused on activity of ethnomusicologist Miodrag A. Vasiljevic, in particular his musicologist proposal for ethnic identification. It has not been researched up to date despite great character of the music that has pointed out great opportunities of the research (and revelation) in the pointed direction. However, his folklore tonal theory has not been only a scientific contribution to comprehension of ethnic reality, but also one pointer for integration of ethnomusicology and ethnology.
