Summary/Abstract: For almost two decades of regained political pluralism, electoral system in Serbia has been object of frequent changes. Besides basic change in 1992 and transition from majoritarian to proportional system of representation, essential reciprocations of electoral institutes were in variations of electoral districts number (district magnitude). Electoral unit is the most manipulative element of electoral system with direct influence on (dis)proportionality, elective and parliamentary party system, manufactured majorities. This is the key reason for political strategists to improve election chances with manipulation in number of electoral units. Main objective of the article is to underline political effects ensued in division of Serbia as one, nine and twenty- nine electoral units in contemporary Serbian parliamentary history. It is provided through presentation of prominent authors’ conclusions on district magnitude’s political consequences and simulation of last election’s results (2008) in three different electoral models.
