Summary/Abstract: The global media has expanded since late 90’s, when many institutional and legislative obstacles were removed. Due to the legislation against media monopoly that prevented big media corporations to grow in their own countries, they exchanged monopoly for oligopoly and entered international media market. This paper examines the influence of globalization on two global all news channels - CNN and BBC World News, how these networks have became “news industry” and at the same time it identifies the changes caused by the channels themselves to the global media sphere. These two TV networks have created new information strategy based on the global perspective, as their coverage of worldwide wars and crises commenced controversy and scrutiny. The term “CNN effect” was born and many theoreticians claimed that continually reporting from crises produced “compassion – fatigue”.
