Summary/Abstract: For Hungary, the most serious consequence of the First World War was the radical curtailment and redistribution of its territory. Beyond newly defined borders, ethnic Hungarians in the old Hungarian kingdom’s ‘Southlands’ found themselves for the first time in the status of an ethnic minority in a foreign land.
