Summary/Abstract: In December 1868, Englishman Albert de Burton visited a part of present-day Romania’s territory during his voyage to the Orient, which he recounted in a book published in 1870 (Ten months’ tour in the East. Being a guide to all that is worth seeing in Turkey in Europe, Greece, Asia Minor, Palestine, Egypt and the Nile). Since the accounts of foreign travelers who passed through and wrote about the Romanian lands hold an important place in Romanian historiography, this article provides some biographical information on Albert de Burton, an author little known so far in Romania, and the translation into Romanian of his description of the Romanian cities he visited
