Summary/Abstract: From the moment it became known to the general public, the Internet has revolutionized the field of computers and communication, in an unprecedented way, manifesting itself in various areas within a society, such as the economic, social, legal or political area. At the moment of speaking, while this article is being written, the Internet is in constant evolution, most users perceiving this development as a form of changing and improvement of websites, starting with the structuring of the information and concluding with the mediation of communication between man and computer. Although there is a close connection between the Internet and websites, they are not the same thing. The Internet is a worldwide network through which millions of computers are connected, while websites are ways of accessing information from the Internet. Taking into account the Romanian Civil Code reglementation on goods distinction, a website is a bodiless, movable, individually determined and infungible, inexpendable and principal good. Since websites are a form of man creation (even if they are conducted via computer, they emanate from humans, they are the result of a human's will), the question of their protection by copyright, like any other human creations, from the view of intellectual property law, has rose. It's worth mentioning that copyright is a possibility, a faculty conferred by law to the author of a website, and not an obligation, therefore it is left to the respective author to decide whether or not to register the copyright on the website. A website forms a relationship with both the components of a computer and users, this relationship being similar to that of any software. In addition, when accessed through a computer, a website fulfills certain tasks. In addition, a website is written in a particular language, hence it can be considered a computer program within the meaning of Law no. 8/1996.
