Summary/Abstract: The most important theatrical institution in Transylvania, the National Theatre of Cluj, developed a remarkable activity during the interwar years. Its activity recommended this institution as a real cultural centre not only in Transylvania, but in other Romanian provinces as well. Since 1919, when the first performance in Romanian was staged, until 1940, when the institution moved to Timişoara, the National Theatre of Cluj presented highly praised plays to the audience, who applauded an exceptional theatrical acting.
