Summary/Abstract: If existence is to bear the attributes of a truly human existence, education must be its prerequisite and its basis. In the article, the necessity of education to make rootedness possible is shown, based on the theory of three movements of human existence by the Czech philosopher Jan Patočka. Rootedness – as well as education – is impossible without basic hospitality. While education is closely tight with the first movement of human existence, its main aim is to lead people to transformation, to an open horizon of the world: Life in Truth. This is, then, where challenges emerge as regards hospitality; its need is felt by people everywhere and every time, especially, when they migrate.
