Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to identify medical waste management in Poland and related problems. The research shows that the issue is very complex due to the diversity of medical waste and danger of their preservation. Production of this type of waste is differentiated regionally. Changes in EU and Polish law, which limited the use of disposable medical products, contributed to the increase in the cost of medical waste management. In order to effective waste management, medical waste separation is necessary for the proper categories in the time and location of depending on the type of material and level of risk. In practice, the system of segregation, removal and disposal of medical waste is not fully implemented, mainly because of the high cost and lack of proper supervision.
