Assessment of the electronic fees system – ViaTOLL in opinion of managing transport companies

Summary/Abstract: The aim of the research was to assess and determine the importance of the ViaTOLL system for transport companies. The source of data for the analysis was literature on the subject, mass statistics data and legal acts. The analysis covered the years 2011–2015. In addition, in 2016, surveys were carried out in a group of 43 transport enterprises from various regions of Poland. The research shows that the electronic toll collection system has contributed to shortening the travel time of lorries and to improving the flow of traffic on toll road sections in Poland, but it has increased the costs of transport companies. For road managers, this system has become a helpful tool to verify the correctness and reliability of payment of charges by truck owners.
