Summary/Abstract: The year 1948 represents the starting of the purges process which affected the inner part of The Romanian Working Party. This process was not unique in the space of the communist states. Provoked by an external event, the soviet- Yugoslavian conflict, and also inspired by the soviet experience, the big ‘purification processes eliminated 200.000 members of The Romanian Working Party. To have a real strong Party was a necessity for the Romanian communists, because the State had to be controlled through trustful men. Many of the members which came into the Party in the 1944-1947 periods, including the social-democrats, were unsecure elements which had to be excluded. The proletarization of the State-Party was the most important objective aimed by the communists, after the verification campaign.
