Summary/Abstract: The queen Elisabeth of Romania intended to set up "the jewelry of the crown" even since 1869 when she married the King Carol I of Romania but she suceded it partly. Her succesor, queen Mary of Romania resumed on her effort. She was passionately fond of Jewelry.As grand-daughter of queen Victoria of Great Britain and of tzar Alexander II of Russia, Maria, princess of Edinburg, married prince Ferdinand of Hohenzollern, succesor to the thron or Romania, în 1893.Then she received as present 400 Jewelry, orders of gold and silver with precious stones, which remained recorded in inventories written between 1902 and 1905. In her legacies written between 1908 and 1916 she expressed her wish to leave the jewelry and decorative art objects to her family and friends. Most of decorative art pieces were created by Carl Fabergé. Seven of those Jewelry are now in the National Museum of History of Romania.In 1916 queen Maria needed to send a great deal of jewelry Moskow, put in two caskets, together with the treasure of the National Bank of Romania because Bucarest was menaced with german occupation. The worth of those Jewelry was by 7 milions lei gold.It was almost sure that among those jewelry were all the pieces of queen Elisabeth because queen Mary didn't mention them after 1916. All the jewelry sent by queen Mary were sequestrated by the bolshevics inSo, the queen intention for created the "jewelry of the crown" was dispeled. Between 1918 and 1933 queen Mary did again her fund of Jewelry with modern pieces for which she did her legacy and shared them to her family.
