Brazil as a Rising Power and Global Politics

Summary/Abstract: Brazil has reached a considerable level of development due to its rich natural resources and to the strong industrial sector which has prospered as a result of the importance given to the national development project in the 20th century. During the first years of the 21st century, successful management of the economy and assertive foreign policy approach have united and provided the joining of the country to the rising powers of the changing international system. Brazil shares its success in the field of economy with the society via social programs which also leads to the gaining of soft power in the international arena. Brazil is considered to play an important role in global politics in the future regarding the global and regional partnership it has developed in different areas. This paper analyzes Brazil as a rising power, taking into consideration the increasing importance of the country in the international system and the internal economic, political and social opportunities and challenges.
