Summary/Abstract: The article presents a selection of herbs that the protagonist of the novel Ognisty Anioł by Walery Briusow uses to ‘check’ possible paranormal predisposition of Ruprecht. A special attention has been paid to the rank of the plants used by Renata in the ‘secret knowledge’ (superstitions and magic) of selected European peoples.
