This study propose a new and usefull parallel between Iaşi and the urban areas of Central and East Europe, analysing some urban particularities. This parallel aim two important periods for the urban evolution of Iaşi: 17th and 18th centuries. The differences and the resemblances can be illustrated trough some special aspects, which are the results of genesis and evolution conditionings, but also of the urban affiliation to the Central and East Europe realm. Thus, some of the byzantine towns characteristics can be recover, but also, we can find some of general occidental urban characteristics. These resemblances was filtered and adapted to the local conditionings. The differences are the ones wich give specifficity and a special personality to the ‘sweet town’ of Iaşi.
