Summary/Abstract: The author presents synthetically in this study of the town of Orşova after the Second World War and the relocation of the town to a new during 1966/1974. The action of relocation took place due to building of the ‘Iron Gates’ Hydroelectric Plant and the formation of its retention lake. The transfer was done after a series of social enquiries and the establishment of the new town location. The action affected simultaneously the economic companies (the author emphasises upon the relocation of the shipyard and of the weaving mill ‘Cazanele’), the social institutions, the administrative and cultural establishments, as well as the population’s dwellings, both in the blocks of flats and in the private houses. Furthermore, the author illustrates different variants of theme projects for a municipal museum. The stress lays on a series of museum exhibitions, having as their main theme the town’s different periods and aspects in a modernised and decentralised form of a local museum.
