Summary/Abstract: A social capital is comprehending sociology and economics from the borderland. For the first time P. Bourdieu entered this date into sociological literature in the 1970s. In the today concept of social capital is more and more popular. Recently within 20 years, it is possible to notice the dynamic it still hasn’t received one, particular definition. However the social capital is most often understood as the potential of the cooperation settled in the interpersonal connections and social norms which can bring benefits for persons, groups and societies. Due to the variety of definitions it is hard to make the measurement of the social capital and to determine the factors responsible for its height. Analyzing the social capital of Poland we should consider such factors as: confidence, level of civil society (degree of forming an union of citizens), education and quality and life satisfaction of Poles. Sociologists and economists think that the social capital is a crucial source for achieving the prosperity and the auspiciousness of the country’s economy. At present all research is showing that in Poland there is a deficit of the social capital caused by capital dramatically low confidence level.
